Decarbonizing built environments’ value chains will be key to achieving Paris Agreement commitments in the coming decades. At the same time, disruptive shifts and intentional steps for new technologies, circular economy principles, demands for sustainable materials, and managing finance portfolio risk all stand to alter current built environment value chains. How we design, deliver, govern and use future built environments will be a key factor for decarbonization within current heavy-emitting value chains.

This is the second of two online interactive workshops to explore how cross-sectoral demand shifts and innovation could deliver decarbonization within built environment value chains. In this second workshop, the ‘3-Horizon approach’ will be used to focus on the implications of demand shifts in the built environment and provide tools to understand the opportunities and challenges to low carbon transition.
