Supply Chain Reactions: Delivering on Material Demands for Sustainable Built Environments | Part 1
Event organiser
Hoffmann Centre
The weight of materials consumed by cities is estimated to grow from 40bn tonnes a decade ago to 90bn tonnes in 2050. If delivered under business-as-usual, this jeopardizes meeting Paris Agreement goals. Urgent steps are needed to scale up alternative methods for producing and using materials within the built environment that align with low-emissions pathways. Recognizing the additional functions built environments perform for society places added impetus to get the material choices right.
As such, these interactive roundtables will explore how compositions of materials, with a focus on steel, can support the function of built environments to deliver sustainable and well-being outcomes.
